Returning from a long road trip I was rear-ended by a drunk driver on an otherwise empty interstate. He fled the scene, but was apprehended after using a tow company to help hide his car. I was hospitalized and released. Great news right? Wrong - that was just the beginning. Before I knew it I was dealing with bills from the hospital, the ambulance service, the Orthopedic group, and more. It was enough work trying to balance my regular life with the addition of Physical Therapy. Then you factor in negotiating with an Insurance Company that wanted to minimize what they paid out not just because that is their job, but because the drunk driver that hit me worked in their corporate office. Needless to say they brought out the big guns and whenever I dealt with them I felt like I got hit from behind all over again. I made some calls and talked to a couple of different attorneys without finding one I felt good about. A friend from law school recommended Matt Hardin. I met with him, and from that day forward my life got easier. All I had to do was concentrate on getting well. Thankfully I did, and about 8 months after that I got a decent five figure check that more than made up for the accident and the rest of the turmoil. One of the companies involved in my treatment, the radiology group at the hospital, had sent my bill to a collection company. I assumed they would stop contacting me when the case was settled and they were paid. They didn't. After the second letter, I sent it to Tabitha at Matt's office. I haven't heard from them since and everything that was on my credit is gone too.
